Gyeongbokgung Palace and National Folk Museum of Korea

Our next stop was Gyeongbokgung Palace. The main gate was currently closed for renovations but the palace and its many buildings was still quite a site. To me, one of the landmarks of the palace is all the space – there are big squares in the centre of the palace. Today they were empty because of the pouring rain. Even the change of the guards did not take place and they were hiding from the rain along the palace wall.

I did enjoy the colourful isle ways and ceilings. When you look at the thrown, the moon on the top right (red) and top left (white) symbolize yin and yang.

After the palace we went to the National Folk Museum of Korea. It covers the History of Korean people, The Korean Way of Life, Life Cycle of Koreans, a Children’s Museum, and an Open Air Exhibition. It was a great overview of Korean history. We were not allowed to take pictures so I can't share any of the great things we've seen in the exhibition. But you can stop by our store and we can chat about it when I'm back.
